The Wright Foundation for
Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) foundation
located in Los Angeles. Like so many good things in life, it started with the generosity
and dedication of one man, Dr. Kenneth Wright, who had committed himself to bettering
the vision of children with vision problems, often paying for surgical related procedures
out of his own pocket. Its mission is to reduce blindness and suffering from eye
disorders in infants and children, through research, medical education, and delivering
quality eye care to all children without regard to insurance, status, or family
income. Dr. Wright, medical director of the Wright Foundation, has been a practicing
physician and pediatric ophthalmologist for over 20 years, and is currently Director
of Pediatric Ophthalmology Research and Education at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The work of the Foundation is supported by private and institutional grants, with
monies going directly to projects. Volunteers manage the Foundation’s administration.
